Tips to help you raise your interest and your performance in Spanish:

  • Turn on the Spanish subtitles whenever you watch a DVD
  • Listen to music in Spanish. (Where to start? Try the Itunes Store: ITunes Latino. Check out "What's Hot")
  • Subscribe to Podcasts in Spanish. You can take these (news, sports, comedy, etc) with you anywhere on an MP3 player. Podcasts are available FREE at the ITunes store.
  • Read current events in Spanish once a week. (Newspaper sites are listed under Enlaces Útiles.)
  • Read in Spanish: childrens books, magazines, or novels. Check out what the class library holds.
  • Watch Spanish film. Spain and Mexico produce great cinema - it's a good way to learn and appreciate culture, too.
  • Find Spanish speakers in your community, and hang out with them.
  • Designate time to think in Spanish. For example: Make morning time into Spanish Time. Try to think only in Spanish while you get ready in the mornings.
  • Travel.
  • Sign up for an exchange program - live and study abroad! This is the best way to learn. Ask your teacher to help you find a program
